The false-colored MYD11C1 image shown was retrieved from MODIS data of
July 4, 2002. It is an example of the MODIS Level 3 LST daily
product at 0.05 degree resolution.
MODIS temperature products are key inputs to many of the high level
MODIS products and provide data for global temperature mapping and
change observation.
Product Description
The level-3 MODIS global Land Surface Temperature (LST) and Emissivity
daily data are composed from the daily MYD11B1
product and stored in
a 0.05-degree (5600-meter) geographic Climate Modeling Grid (CMG).
MYD11C1 is
comprised of daytime and nighttime LSTs, quality assessment,
observation times, view angles, and emissivities retrieved in
Bands
20, 22-23, 29, and 31-32.
Version-5 MODIS/Aqua Land Surface Temperature/Emissivity products are
validated indirectly through the daily 6-km product, MYD11B1,
to Stage 1, meaning that accuracy has been estimated using a small
number of independent measurements obtained from selected
locations and time periods and ground-truth/field program efforts.
Although there may be later improved versions, these data are
ready for use in scientific publications.
