MODIS Data Pool Extraction Tool Overview
NAME
MODIS Data Pool Extraction Tool (MODextract) - The MODextract script locates and downloads MODIS data from the LP DAAC Data Pool.
PREREQUISITES
MODextract requires Expect, which can be downloaded from http://expect.nist.gov/. MODextract has been tested on the following operating systems:
IRIX 6.5
Solaris 8
GNU/Linux 2.4.21-15.ELsmp
Windows XP.
SYNOPSIS
MODextract < input parameter file > [output directory]
AVAILABILITY
The MODextract script will be downloaded from an LP DAAC web site to an end-user's machine. The end-user will run the MODextract script on their local machine to locate and download MODIS data from the LP DAAC Data Pool.
PERMISSIONS
Since the end-user runs MODextract on a local machine, permissions will be maintained by the end-user.
DESCRIPTION
MODextract uses the MODIS product type and tile location information in the input parameter file to navigate to the correct location in the LP DAAC Data Pool and ftp pull the data to the user's local machine.
The script was designed to download MODIS gridded data (having horizontal and vertical tile numbers). It will not work for swath or climate model grid (CMG) data such as MOD14, MOD43C1, MOD11C1, MOD12C1, MOD13C1, and MOD09CMG.
A timeout period of 30 minutes is set. If a single file takes more than 30
minutes to download, the script will exit with an error.
